Happy New Year all! Let’s, again, strive to emphasize the Happy & New part!
So, did any of you take some time during the holidays to reflect upon and take inventory on what has passed and what is in store for this New Year? Sure, we all want to completely and quickly forget the past twelve months for a myriad of horrific reasons, but let me throw out one concept for the moment:
The successes and triumphs we attain and enjoy this year will be a result of the struggles and failures we experienced and endured last year.
Every incident in our lives must be looked at with the hope of gaining a positive and nurturing learning opportunity. If you believe the adage that all things happen for a reason, now is your chance to capitalize on that feeling. As much as we want to eliminate, forget and block-out the past, it is important here to take a lesson from the earthquake to better prepare us for the aftershocks; possibly, on some levels, we can position our lives to avoid some of the damage caused by our unemployment depression.
We have learned that building and maintaining a constant and lasting stream of professional business relationships is vital to everyone, both working and not. A properly developed network will keep you afloat and abreast of industry trends and happenings and will ensure that you stay connected with those whom will alert you with viable leads and opportunities now and in the future. The technology is here to use – let’s apply those strengths to our benefit!
We have learned that the job-search playing field has a new stadium that not many know how to locate and navigate; parking is worse than it ever was and getting into that seat is twice the price and half the size it used to be. With the new stadium comes new technology and tools to keep you in your seat so your neighbors, as innocent as they may appear, can’t dethrone you as they want the better view of the game. Adding to the already miserable score…the game itself, even with a good seat, has lost much of its luster.
We’ve learned it’s not just finding a job – it’s about creating ways to stay ahead and on top of whatever you desire in life. Most of us are doing the same thing…find opening, submit resume and wait. And wait and wait and wait.
This year become weightless, explore and expand your boundaries and empower yourself to see the sights from a diverse angle; reach higher than the next person and motivate yourself to kick your job-search up a notch. Be more daring and innovative; differentiate yourself far above the rest of the unemployed pack by being singular. In life, none of us are alike so it should make sense that we go about our daily business in the same fashion…differently. But we don’t. We have been indoctrinated and pre-conditioned that the road to employment is one that must be followed in the same way by everybody exactly as formulated. Well, I’m here to tell you that the formula needs some major repaving and, with the exciting resources available today to fix this, the formula is structurally weak and virtually ineffective because we’re all doing the same thing. What makes matters increasingly worse is everyday there’s more and more of us being relegated to follow the same hackneyed road.
In the coming weeks, I will demonstrate how you can float above the crowd and make a huge difference in your job-search. Using my network I was able to connect with a program that has helped scores of people and I anticipate bringing this program to you. This program will allow you to take your skills, experience and accomplishments to a whole new level. I am truly excited about this opportunity and will share more as details become available.
Let this year avail you to a fresh start; I aim to make it more positive and tangible. Keep hunting, but refine your gear. If you stop now, others will make the kill and you will be left barren with only the spear in your hands. My mission is to show you how to be the spearhead and not just the spear.
This year will be the one…please join me in celebrating by saying Amen To 2010!
Again, Thanks For Surfing My Wave!
