Well, hello there and thanks for surfing my wave!
“Experience is not what happens to you. It is what you do with what happens to you.”
- Aldous Huxley
People are always opening doors for others; it’s the polite thing to do. Men, woman and even children. Been on a date lately? Whatever your “relationship status” is, you can always size up an individual on how they approach something as simple as a door. When I try opening a door for one of my children, oftentimes I get, “I got it!” They are constantly trying to show their ability and capacity to do things; big and small. Always recognize that, regardless of size, as at some point in your childrens’ lives, they might close that door behind you as well.
Opening doors can be hard – for anyone.
As we live and “experience” our world, we find that doors are opened to let others in – an invitation to share in that experience, whatever that may be. Some can be a blessing, others a curse. But how is one to know and appreciate until that invitation is offered?
Doors. Just inanimate pieces of steel or wood or plastic; maybe a combination. But what symbolism do they have as we live our daily lives? According to Wikipedia, a door “is a moveable barrier used to cover an opening.” So, if I’m reading this correctly, doors are pretty heavy objects and block openings. Now is this door a physical one? Emotional? Both?
Heavy, indeed.
Doors, in a perfect world, should only be closed for safety and security, right? Like to a car as you drive or a home at night. Other than that, what purpose does a closed door have? Closed doors shut off communication, cause isolation and create despair. And to cover an opening that one might want to fill? Got Job?
In our unemployed world, doors are not being opened; rather they are being locked. The combination to liberate success in our lives does lie within us. We can only knock. Knock hard, with conviction and firmness. My attempt, with this blog, is to knock on doors of the future. A door where you have the only key and beyond that door is an empty room. The door might be closed, but if you can master the key, that room is yours in which to build.
“There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.”
- Aldous Huxley
