“With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die.” ~Abraham Lincoln
Making light of a bad situation at a time like this is hard, if not impossible. If you take a look at the literature you’ll find that laughter, no matter the situation, can help you deal with life. There are plenty of Health Benefits of Humor and Laughter. As mortified, depressed and frustrated as we are, we need to take note of this and spend some time finding ways in which to release our tensions and stress. We need to laugh more; much more.
Yesterday I sat in on a presentation by Caroline Corser; she’s an elderly woman who was dressed in what could have been her college cheerleading outfit. She might outlive us all. She had the spunk and energy of a person not born yet. Wait a minute…let’s refine that – she had the spunk and energy of a person engaged in activities and acts relating to wanting to have a baby to birth. I guess you can say she was having as much fun as one could with their pants on!
“How I see it is that men get one night of pleasure, and we get nine months of putting them through hell and getting away with it.”
~Sara Swank
Now she wasn’t Catskills funny or Vegas funny, but she was immensely cute and got her point across in style. If you look at her and read some of her history, others would have died half her age. Caroline is a role model of grandeur whose talents need to be recognized and admired. She gave some rather telling suggestions: Keep a humor file and build a laughter library; stop watching the news and rent something funny – things like that. She got into some heavy topics and discussions that you should address to help you overcome some of the issues we are faced with today. Make a list of some of your happier memories and reflect on those for the time being; very simple ways to make you feel better. The important thing here is to laugh; aloud, a lot and uncontrollably.
“All my life, I always wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should have been more specific.”
~Jane Wagner, The Search For Intelligent Life In The Universe, performed by Lily Tomlin
However you see fit, find that something that activates your funny bone and tickle it…or maybe have someone tickle it for you! I can’t say I’ve been successful at it, but I’ll work on it. If you can’t find it within the confines of your immediate surroundings, go to where you can find it. I don’t think you’ll have to travel far. I encourage everyone to find a place within them where they can have a moment of peace in each day – an escape – to assist their bodies in the healing process. Laughing can be a good workout, one that we can enjoy and forget our troubles for a while. It’s natural and quite inexpensive. Try it…you might find it addicting!
“I won’t say ours was a tough school, but we had our own coroner. We used to write essays like ‘What I’m Going to be If I Grow Up.’”
~Lenny Bruce

Oops…forgot to say great post! Looking forward to your next one.
Wow! Thanks for the great write-up. I just happened to run into your article while checking my name on Google. You got the message. That’s great.
I also watched your video. Good job! I admire your gumption to create your own job and encourage others to do so, too.
You’re a good writer, too!
Thanks again,
Caroline
