Well, hello there and thanks for surfing my wave!
“Having a sense of humor is absolutely crucial. It’s a companion to humility. You have to kind of acknowledge that you’re the speck on an elephant’s butt.”
Michael J. Fox, The Costco Connection, April 2009
In an everyday world, in the best of times, being able to laugh, not only at life but yourself is, without a doubt, not only crucial, but essential.
Today, without one is life-threatening.
I have always said my funny bone is slightly disjointed. After being laid-off I would say completely dislocated. Am I Vaudeville funny? No. Lidsville funny? SOITENLY! If sugar helps the medicine go down, than humor will most certainly ease its digestion and help eliminate side-effects.
“Some things are so unexpected that no one is prepared for them.”
Leo Rosten
Laughing must be on everyone’s daily to-do list; without it, life is not complete. It allows us a brief moment of escape at a rock-bottom price…unless, of course, you’re the butt of it. For me, I don’t care. If you can’t laugh at yourself, you need to lighten up and take some refresher courses on breathing. I encourage everyone out there, especially the ones finding times harder than usual, to seek out a source of laughter as much as possible. You will thank yourself for it. Go to your local public library or book retailer and look at the Humor section. Get lost in it for an hour – take a laugh break from all your heartbreak. If anyone deserves it now more than ever, you do! And it’s free!
“Eighty percent of married men cheat in America. The rest cheat in Europe.”
Jackie Mason
