More Medicine for the Unemployed

Well, hello there and thanks for surfing my wave!

“The other night I ate at a real nice family restaurant. Every table had an argument going.”

-       George Carlin

I liked the first Humor Post so much, and it was a top hit getter, I thought I’d post another one!

If you look at the research (and I did!), laughter has been clinically proven to reduce stress and improve on the longevity of life.  Well, I don’t think I need to tell you that stress and dealing with its effects is an everyday struggle; adding job loss into that mix only escalates its burden on your health and that of your loved ones.  We must find time in our lives to release that anxiety and take a break from it.

“Graduation speeches were invented largely in the belief that college students should never be released into the world until they have been properly sedated.”

-       Garry Trudeau

If you find yourself in the company of others that bring you down and are unsupportive of your efforts to gain new employment, humor them.  If that doesn’t take the edge off, remove yourself and explain that you are not able to deal with individuals that are not encouraging.  In order to successfully job search, your mental health must be in top shape; laughter and humor are keys to unlocking your true potential.  Again, spend an hour or so each day researching humorists; maybe find a favorite and look at their bio.  They say comedy is simply tragedy plus time – possibly you’ll discover that your life is by far better then those of most comedians.

“Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.”

-       Phyllis Diller

Why not feel better at their expense – they get paid handsomely for it.

God gave men both a penis and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time.
