Well, hello there and thanks for surfing my wave!

So here we are faced with a brand new day, each day more special and precious than the day before and its entire distinct splendor slips away, effortlessly, as we continue our daily pursuit of employment with dagger-like pains as we dredge along our parched road fighting off the pests and dank, disturbing scents of fresh road kill far and wide that so rapidly fell before us.

Navigating Unemployed Obstacle Courses.  This is what we are doing, sadly.  It’s an endless infection that attaches and grows into one’s soul like some addiction with the purpose of consuming your being.  The more you try to treat and eliminate it, the further away you get from healing.  We must break this cycle.

Why are we not getting a job?  A phone call or interview?  Why is there no sign of response whatsoever?  Are we doing enough?  Do you ask yourself what are you doing?  Where does a person turn to besides each other?

Well, for one we need to get out into the world more and maybe see what the day holds and looks like.  Other than the on-line social networks which pretty much keeps you indoors, we need to get our act together and take it on the road.  First, find some sort of marketing platform for yourself; I suggest maybe a button that you can wear that reveals something about you that will attract those you pass along the way going to and from wherever you are going.  Keep it business like and make sure it’s original and self-expressive.  Get yourself noticed in a positive way and folks will stop you and ask you questions.  A clever and original way to enter into discussions about what you are seeking.

On a national level, there are so many resources to discover in our job search.  I highly recommend PinkSlipMixers – hundreds of high-end unemployed people looking to meet others and network into conversations and dialogues that can lead to business and long-lasting friendships.  They’re completely free and an incredible pick-me-up.  These get you talking and exchanging ideas.  Look them up in your area.

Civic organizations are a fabulous way of taking the pulse of your local business environment.  Call or visit your local Chamber of Commerce or Service Club Organization.  Most of these have an International presence and can help you increase your chances of getting you the proper business exposure.  All major cities have Chapters; all you need to do is ask.

Want to meet people and get fit?  Walk for a cause!  The world of medical research is constantly organizing walks and runs all across the nation.  Do you have family or friends that are afflicted with disease?  Unfortunate if that’s the case, but you can help them and yourself by volunteering and signing up for one of these, get some well-needed and deserved exercise and possibly meet some pretty powerful people in the business world that can give you a leg up in the job market while you give yourself a leg up running.  You already share something in common; the passion to fight disease.

So you remember that brand new day I mentioned at the beginning?  Here are ways that are guaranteed to get you to greet the day head-on and with a mission of self-accomplishment.  After you do the research and find what it is you’re interested in supporting or doing, get away from the computer and go out into the day and breathe some brand new air.

It’s a brand new day.  Now turn these unemployed obstacle courses into your favor and go hit the road running!
