The Power of Networking In Your Job Search

by TUM on June 8, 2009

Well, hello there and thanks for surfing my wave!

Okay, there has to be some good coming out of this mess, right?  Think about it…We used to drive to work or utilize some form of public transit, correct?  I’m spending 35-40% less on gasoline – and I take premium!  The mileage on my car is going down preserving its longevity.  That’s a nice savings over time.  Calculate what your transportation used to cost and what it is today and I’ll bet you’ll smile for a minute or two.  Perhaps chuckle!

Good News!

Maybe you get to sleep an extra ten or fifteen minutes in the morning (I don’t – kids!) or every once in awhile take a two-hour lunch that you never treated yourself to before.  Like I’ve mentioned, workout a bit more taking advantage of that costly membership that might have to lapse.  Get it all in if you can’t afford the renewal.  Do you have pets?  Take some time to scratch its belly or go for a walk; my dog will be the saddest member in my family when I find work outside the house.

Celebrate!  Well, not the dog missing you when you get outside work…

So did you notice the incredible facelift I was telling you about on Friday?  It wasn’t one of those fly-by-night parlors, either.  My new WordPress Blog Theme (“Thesis”) was expertly managed by none other than Brian A. Williams, The Internet Marketing Business Wizard.  Now, let me point out again that all of this – website and blog site – are administered mostly by friends – people I know.  The Power of Networking!  I’ve had to dip into my savings to build all this, but I’ve been able to affordably execute it because I am working with people I trust and recognize my situation.  This is why it’s so crucial to continue networking with people you know and they know.  I’ve known Brain for several years, didn’t exactly remember his expertise, but a mutual friend pointed me in Brian’s direction.

Embrace The Power of Your Network!

The network and associates you have might not be able to assist you with what you want, like me.  Please ask everyone you know this amazingly straightforward question: “What do you do and how can you help me?”  Empower yourself by empowering those around you.  Give them permission to use their skills to interest and enlighten you in a direction that you possibly never thought of, but after mulling, you might get some traction by exploring some of those avenues.

Hey look – I just had an idea for a blog, that’s all.  I thought with the right tools, I could build something…like a house for my blog.  Now I have a mansion for the cost of a virtual house – relatively inexpensive for what I’ve created in today’s marketplace.  In the near future, I will open up these rooms I’ve blogged about; you’re invited to grow with me and, in time, we will see the light.  For now, let’s get out of the dark so we can be noticed.  Start with hugging a friend!
